Typical Day

Where I currently work, I juggle several different tasks that range from graphic design to coding.

We’re currently redesigning our site, all the way down to these little icons.

🌅 Morning: Designing

Usually, my day starts with graphic design and laying out pages. All of this is done in a sketching app without any code. That way, I can try out a bunch of different ideas really quickly.

🌤 Afternoon: Talking

In order to make sure my designs are valid, I need to share them with people and get feedback. That way, I’m sure my designs meet the needs of the users. Communicating clearly (and omitting any technical lingo) is really important here since my coworkers don’t need that level of detail.

🌇 Evening: Coding and… Everything Else

Typically, I need to code up some designs to get them ready to go on the site after all of this. I can use these to go back and review some more.

This is also a time for a mix of everything else—whatever else urgently needs to get done. Perhaps it’s a bit more testing with users, designing, or communicating.

Sometimes I work with others one-on-one to test out my designs.
